About
Welcome to the South West Wales Branch of the MND Association. We are delighted that you have visited our website, where you'll find information about our efforts to support those affected by Motor Neurone Disease in the beautiful regions of Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, and Ceredigion up to Aberystwyth.

Our branch is dedicated to providing care, raising awareness, and fostering a community of support and understanding. Whether you're seeking information, assistance, or ways to get involved, we're here to ensure that no one faces MND alone in our region.

Local people regularly turn to the South West Wales branch in times of crisis because of MND's impact on their daily lives.
Our branch supports those living with MND by providing grants to help them with much-needed equipment or adaptations to their property, to help them maintain social interaction through the provision of technological devices or communication aids, or to enable them to access community resources through help with taxi fares and train tickets to visit family members. We also provide grants to help improve quality of life.
We also support those affected by MND, particularly carers who provide much-needed support so that they can get a few hours of relaxation and pampering, whether through a spa day or getting their hair done. We also help minimise the effects of MND on children by providing them with young person grants, which can be used for dance lessons or holidays.
Our branch also funds our local Association Visitors, who provide valuable befriending service and emotional support to those needing someone to talk with. In addition, our monthly Support Meetings allow vital and supportive interactions for our local MND community.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease which affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement and eventually leaves people unable to move, communicate or breathe. It kills a third of people within a year of diagnosis and half within two years. There is no cure.

"Every single day is precious. Don't waste a moment. In a world full of adversity we must still dare to dream."
Rob Burrows, over and out.
